Boy Scout Troop 228 is located in Berea, Ohio and charted by the United Methodist Church of Berea as a troop in the Lake Erie Council. Troop meetings are on Sunday nights from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the United Methodist Church at 170 Seminary Street.

There are monthly camping trips. Recent destinations have been Beaumont Scout Reservation, Camp Alaska at Firelands Scout Reservation, Camp Pee Wee near Lodi, Mohican Wilderness Campground, white water rafting on the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania, South Bass Island, Camp Stigwandish, Top O’Ledges, and the Buffalo Naval Park.

We go to Seven Ranges Scout Reservation for summer camp. This is a week long trip beginning on a Sunday and ending on a Saturday, usually the fourth week in June.

For our High Adventure program we sent a crew to Seabase in Florida in 2018, to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in 2014. We sent scouts to the 2017 National Scout Jamboree in West Virginia. In the summer of 2012 several of our scouts attended the Eagle Base High Adventure program in the Allegheny mountains of Pennsylvania.

Sunday's meeting back at the United Methodist Church, SPL nominations, and Troop Facebook Group Page

Posted on Feb 17 2021 - 8:24am

This Sunday we start back to meetings a the church. The troop will have Senior Patrol leader nominations with the election next week.

There have been some changes. Scouts are not permitted inside the church itself. Our code to enter the building has been changed. Scouts are to enter through the entrance left of the main entrance. It is the entrance closest to the new addition/gym. There will be an adult leader at the entrance to let scouts in. As always social distancing will be strictly enforced and masks are required. Temperature checks will be done before scouts or leaders are permitted into the building. Disinfecting will be done before and after the meeting and hand sanitizer will be on hand for scouts and leaders to use before they enter and leave the meeting. All efforts are to maintain the health and safety of our scouts and leaders. Adults who are not a leader are asked not to come to meetings to limit the number of people in the church gym. If you need to speak to a leader please feel free to reach out to us via email or phone at any time. Please remind your scout to maintain social distance. As much as we try to remind scouts to socially distance themselves, they are young men and should be responsible to handle themselves accordingly. In an effort to get scouts back on track please make sure they bring their scout book for the leaders to check their rank advancements.
