Boy Scout Troop 228 is located in Berea, Ohio and charted by the United Methodist Church of Berea as a troop in the Lake Erie Council. Troop meetings are on Sunday nights from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the United Methodist Church at 170 Seminary Street.

There are monthly camping trips. Recent destinations have been Beaumont Scout Reservation, Camp Alaska at Firelands Scout Reservation, Camp Pee Wee near Lodi, Mohican Wilderness Campground, white water rafting on the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania, South Bass Island, Camp Stigwandish, Top O’Ledges, and the Buffalo Naval Park.

We go to Seven Ranges Scout Reservation for summer camp. This is a week long trip beginning on a Sunday and ending on a Saturday, usually the fourth week in June.

For our High Adventure program we sent a crew to Seabase in Florida in 2018, to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in 2014. We sent scouts to the 2017 National Scout Jamboree in West Virginia. In the summer of 2012 several of our scouts attended the Eagle Base High Adventure program in the Allegheny mountains of Pennsylvania.

5 mile hike instead of 6:30 pm troop meeting on Sunday, Halloween candy handout, and leaf raking

Posted on Oct 14 2020 - 4:01pm

Many scouts need to complete the hiking requirement and cook a meal. Instead of a 6:30 meeting, there will be a 10 am hike. Scouts should wear sturdy footwear, dress for the weather, bring a day pack with a water bottle, rain gear, and a small snack for the half waypoint. We will meet up in the picnic shelter at the Lagoons Picnic area of the Rocky River Reservation just south of Cedar Point rd. For those going to Philmont, this is a required hike and wear a weighted backpack of at least 20 pounds. For those scouts needing to prep a meal please contact Mr. Powell at 216.313.0305 or dan@tensai.net. Make sure you copy your parent when contacting him by email or text. If calling him please have your parent in the room. As always wear a mask and practice social distance.
